The Heart Behind the Details
For essentially my entire life, my friends and family have come to me saying things like, “Meggan, make me a rhyme for this card” or, “Hey, what’s a clever way to say ___?” I have also had a blast dreaming up parties that don’t feel like broken records so that we actually have FUN. I’ve been heavily influenced by my own loved ones who have been the ones to teach me to appreciate the extra-lovey details; my parents helped make every school project top-notch, my sisters and friends gave me the bachelorette party of a lifetime, and my husband makes me a special Valentine’s Day jeopardy game which is the highlight of my year, every year. All of these things have made me feel so warm and fuzzy and so, so close to them-–that’s what I want to help you do for your loved ones, too.
So...we’re just supposed to trust you?
YES, and I’ll tell you why: In college, I majored in journalism with an emphasis in public relations (#SKOBUFFS!). During my years at CU and afterward, I planned countless events and designed branding for major companies. This was all very fun, but more importantly , it also gave me the creativity and attention to detail that I bring into all of my projects for you guys now.
These days, I’m a wife, mom and a pediatrician. (Did I mention before that I also majored in integrative physiology?) I have a lot of interests and have plenty of practice juggling seemingly unrelated things. I try my hardest in all of my endeavors, and I care deeply about people.
You don’t need to know what’s required to put together a really great gift or a killer party–that’s on me–but I’ll spoil the answer for you: it’s everything I just said! You can count on me to keep track of the tiny pieces you spaced, stay within any budget, balance different personalities within a group, track and handle packages, and–most importantly–to make the end result [and process along the way!] memorable and fun.
The Story Behind Reverie Maeve
“Reverie” is a noun that means “the state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts; a daydream.” While this is such a zen, sweet sensation, it also alludes to the distraction and procrastination that hinders so many people from bringing their ideas to fruition. That’s where I can help!
“Maeve” is particularly special to me, because it’s my daughter’s middle name. Becoming a mom completely changed my entire sense of self and my understanding about what it really means to love someone (and equally importantly, how to show them!). My wish for my baby girl is for her to be surrounded by friends who recognize what makes her unique, lovers who cherish her as an individual, and a mother who makes her feel supported and proud. Now, please read my wish again, knowing that I also wish for your loved ones to feel all of those things, via the presents and parties we create together just for them.
As a bonus, “Maeve” is also Celtic (my maiden name is very Irish) and means “she who rules,” so it gives me a confidence boost as I embark on this brand new endeavor. Maeve is also “queen of the fairies” and is “cunning and intoxicating.” If all of our creations can be described as magical, sneaky and things you just can’t get enough of, I’ll consider that a glowing success.
